Switching

Bring your history with you.

The reason people stay in a habit app they have outgrown is the grid: years of days that would go back to zero. Ritua reads the export files of six other trackers, so they do not have to.

Why this page exists

Almost no habit tracker will read another one's export. Most will restore only the file they wrote themselves, and at least one asks you to rebuild your history through a spreadsheet template and an automation service. The usual advice when you switch is to start again and backfill a week or two from memory.

That is a bad answer for anyone with real history, and it is the reason people stay somewhere they have stopped enjoying. Ritua reads each format directly, on your phone, and works out which one it has by looking inside the file rather than at its name, so a renamed or re-shared export still imports.

What is true on every one of these pages

  • Your habits and their full day-by-day history come across, not just a starting line.
  • Days you marked as skipped stay skips, so deliberate rest keeps working in your favour instead of reading as failure.
  • Your streak number may change, because Ritua counts against the schedule you set rather than the calendar. Usually it goes up.
  • Nothing is uploaded. There is no account and no server to upload it to.
  • However many habits you bring, they all come in. The free tier's five-ritual limit applies to creating new ones, not to recovering what you already had.
  • Restoring during setup is free. Do it when you first open the app rather than later from Settings.
  • Anything Ritua can import, it can also export again.

Tracking somewhere that is not on this list? A plain spreadsheet of dates imports too, and if you tell us what you use we will look at its export format.Send us a note.
