How to build a habit that survives a bad week.

Five short lessons, one a day. By the end you will have one habit that is specific enough to actually do, attached to a moment that already exists in your day, and a plan for the day you miss it.

  • Five emails, then it stops
  • Works on paper, no app required
  • Unsubscribe in one click

What is in it

  1. Day 1

Start with one, and make it smaller

Why one habit beats five, and how to find the version of it you could still do on your worst day.

  2. Day 2

Attach it to something you already do

A fixed time of day is a weak trigger. An existing behaviour is a reliable one, and there is a test for telling them apart.

  3. Day 3

Decide what counts before you start

How to define done so tightly that there is nothing left to argue about at ten at night, and how to pick an honest cadence.

  4. Day 4

Plan the miss now, while it is cheap

Missing one day does almost nothing. The story you tell yourself about it does the damage. Two rules, decided in advance.

  5. Day 5

    Make the evidence visible

Motivation follows evidence rather than producing it. The weekly review in three questions, and what to change when it is not working.

Who this is for

It is for anyone who has started a habit more than once and watched it end the same way: a strong first fortnight, one missed day, and then nothing. The course is mostly about that missed day, because it is the part almost nobody plans for and the part that decides the outcome.

It is not a productivity system and it will not ask you to overhaul your morning. The whole method fits on an index card. Most of the work is making the habit smaller than feels reasonable.

Questions

What does it cost?

Nothing. Five emails, one a day, and then it stops. There is no paid tier of the course and no sales sequence waiting at the end of it.

Do I need the app to do this?

No. The course teaches a method, not a product. Every lesson works with a notebook, and each one ends with a single line about how Ritua handles that step if you would rather not do it by hand.

What happens to my email address?

It is stored on our own infrastructure, used to send you these lessons and the occasional note about Ritua, and never sold or shared. Every email carries a one-click unsubscribe. See the privacy policy for the detail.

How often will you email me afterwards?

Rarely. There is no weekly newsletter to fill, so we write when a new tool or a significant release lands, and not otherwise.
